Punkin' the 70's

In the 70, rock music died down a little. Not in a sense that it became less popular, but new genres of rock and roll did not emerge in abundance like it did in the 60's. Instead, the ones that emerged in the 60's, like Led Zeppelin, only became more famous and new bands of the existing genres came about in the 70's. Like David Bowie, The Eagles, Queen (really, I wonder who can beat the sexy voice of the lead singer of Queen, Freddy Mercurie. His voice was just incredible.), AC/DC! (this is where the Australians get into the act, too.) The only new genre of rock and roll that emerged in the 70's was punk rock, southern rock and country rock.
Blondie
Punk rock was sort of founded by The Ramones. They combined anarchism and teenage angst into the music which produced punk rock. Then other bands that played punk rock emerged. These bands were the Sex Pistols, The Stooges, Blondie, and the Clash. Of course, as usual, there are more!Punk rock also ended up influencing so many bands in our modern day today. I will get to you on that pretty soon in my post about rock music in the 2000's.

Then there's southern rock. There's a bit of the southern twist to southern rock, of course. If you listen to it, you'll understand what I mean. Southern rock was popularized by mane bands and individuals, among them being Lynyrd Skynyrd and Wet Willie. I recommend that you listen to Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It's a beautiful song that would make you move your head and hips and feel like dancing! I kid you not.

Also, there's country rock. I suppose country rock is a bit more heavier on the country influence when it comes to it. It's a twist of country music and rock and roll. I do believe that this genre is pretty enjoyable, too. Famous bands from this genre were The Eagles and The Doobie Brothers. Since I'm in the mood to recommend songs, try listening to Hotel California by the Eagles. This song is pretty creepy when you pay attention to lyrics, honestly. But it's a really good song! Give it a listen, you might like it too.

I guess that's all for this post, guys!

Keep the rock and roll spirit!
