Mainstream 80's and the heavy metals

Guns n' Roses
Rock and roll music in the 80's was mostly famous for its hair bands (Heavy metal bands with their tight pants -most men were wearing ladies jeans during the time, I kid you not) that had insane guitar solos and hair! Take Guns n' Roses, for one. The emerged in the 80's and they came with a bang. I'm sure most of you know their songs, too. Like, Sweet Child O' Mine, Paradise City, so many more! There was also Aerosmith. This band was pretty awesome, too. And you can't deny that Aerosmith's lead singer, Steven Tyler, had an amazing voice! Of course we can't forget the awesome individual, Ozzy Osbourne who popularized heavy metal.

There was also the mainstream rock music. There was Pat Benatar, Bon Jovi, INXS, Foreigner. Really, the list just goes on and on. There were other rock genres that emerged during this decade, but none too famous. Like, Ska (a revival of Rockabilly), Gothic Rock and Alternative. Although these genres weren't so famous, there were bands from these genres that became quite known, like The Cure, Matchbox, Red Hot Chili Peppers (they're getting quite known now, too), Jane's Addiction. These bands are quite known although their genres aren't favoured as much as mainstream and hair bands.
Red Hot Chili Peppers

I'll be talking about the 90's rock music in my next post. Stay tuned!
